30th April 2023

Chaos here,

I think the less said about this fixture the better, summed up by M1 driving in, having a look round and reversing back out. The pitch was very damp and the outfield even wetter and uncut. With the weather and potential for rain in the afternoon it was decided to reduce the game to 30overs per side to ensure a game was completed. I wanted to bowl first and the Meltham captain wanted to bat so tossing up was made redundant.

We took to the field for the 2nd time in 2 days and the word “stiff” would sum up a few of the lads. M1 took a wicket with his first ball, bowling the opening batsman and we were off and running. The innings for Meltham never really got going and it was a strange way of playing a 30 over game by just plodding along and not really playing a shot in anger. Eventually we bowled them out for 64, wickets for: Nads 3/13, M1 2/3, Chaos 2/7 and Rudge 2/30.

We knocked it off fairly easily in 9.3 overs, losing just 2 wickets. JR, yet to be dismissed this season, finished on 21* (25) and Chezzy 15* (14). It’s always good to get through a potential banana skin unscathed and progress into the next round. In a day where there wasn’t any real shock results, we eagerly anticipate the draw and hopefully we have a home tie for the first time in 2 seasons.

Til next time,

It’s been Chaos
