Moorlands royalty comes to mind when describing this man. A club favourite and woven into Moorlands folklore. He had a season long blip signing for local rivals Mirfield Parish and has also represented Marshall CC in Australia as their overseas player. We would be here all day listing the accolades he has achieved for the club, most recently he captained the first XI to the T20 trophy in 2017 and the first team batting averages in 2017. He also holds the club record for the highest individual score with 194 away at Holmfirth in 2022. Also in 2022 he was responsible for the key moment in the game that resulted in the club winning the Sykes Cup. We were staring down the barrel of chasing 270+ when Mikey produced a moment of brilliance by stumping Chris Holliday who was doing the damage. We bowled Swaine out for 198 and the rest is history. In terms of stats, Mikey has 2,435 runs for the first team and a record 119 catches and 22 stumpings. On Mikey, Chaos commented “I’ve seen him deliver unbelievable pieces of skill behind the stumps and win games on his own with the bat when the game was lost. A vital part of the team who improves morale in the dressing room with his sense of humour and upbeat attitude. Its no coincidence that the club has won two Sykes Cups with him in the team.”
